The theme of this book is that you can not judge a book by its cover. This is a very cleshay decision on point of view, but there is true meaning behind it. Max is a giant compared to some other kids that go to his school, or that live around him. Then there is Kevin who is smaller than most people, and probably a lot smarter too. If you agree with me you probably would have never thought that Max and Kevin would have been best friends, but this just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by a cover. You shouldn't judge someone just because of the way they look, or how smart you are because Kevin and Max's friendship consists on giant and a very small little boy. Freak and Max, A.K.A. Freak The Mighty, are best friends because they didn't judge each other by appearances which made it easy for them to become best friends.
