The point of view that this story is told from is first person, Max. Max is telling the story from his point of view because this is how he is explaining what happened, and how he felt during some of the most important events in this book. The authors purpose was to really grab readers attention to try and make them see what Max was seeing and how he was feeling. If this story wasn't told in first person it wouldn't have given the personal thoughts that Max was feeling and what he was seeing. This point of view was best in first person because it provides lots of descriptors and textual imagery.
